Tex Avery's Droopy - The Complete Theatrical Collection (DVD)
I loved watching these as a kid and I love watching these now with my kids. Yeah yeah sometimes they are politically incorrect and violent and old-fashioned in scary ways. But this is just absolute genius cartoon making. Tex Avery is one of the greats. They don’t make them like this anymore.
From Wikipedia: Avery’s style of directing encouraged animators to stretch the boundaries of the medium to do things in a cartoon that could not be done in the world of live-action film. An often-quoted line about Avery’s cartoons was, “In a cartoon you can do anything,”
Droopy is the most famous of Tex Avery’s characters. However. there are many other classics that are not included on this disc like my two favorites: The taxi that wanted to be a hot rod and the propeller plane that wanted to be a jet.
Identical in story-line, but what kid can’t relate to wanting to be accepted by his/her father while also pursuing a dream? The Droopy set does include one of my all time favorite cartoons where he is a bullfighter.
So many memories.
